Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. seeks a Bridge Associate I to contribute to the design and analysis of bridge projects across posting locations in Illinois. You will perform structural calculations, develop construction plans using MicroStation/AutoCAD, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on DOT projects.

The role offers mentorship, growth opportunities, and exposure to all phases of bridge design and delivery within a supportive firm culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering required.
• 0-2 years of experience in designing structural systems for bridge projects.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD or other engineering design software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Interest or familiarity with DOT permitting and construction standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elements.
• Develop load calculations and structural design computations.
• Prepare organized, detailed structural calculations and technical documentation.
• Design and draft structural elements, details, and connection designs.
• Develop plans and specifications using MicroStation software.
• Prepare complete and reviewable task deliverables that meet quality standards.
• Complete assigned tasks on schedule and within project budgets.
• Work independently under guidance of Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Review and check structural calculations and design work.
• Participate in coordination meetings with multidisciplinary project teams.

FarnsworthGroup is seeking a Bridge Associate I in the below posting locations. In this role, you will contribute to the design and analysis of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects, perform structural calculations and develop construction plans using industry-leading design software, collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, and gain hands-on experience working on impactful projects for DOT and transportation clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth, mentorship from experienced engineers, and exposure to all phases of bridge design and project delivery.

What You'll Do:

• Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elements
• Develop load calculations and structural design computations for project components

What You'll Need:

• Interest and/or familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT): permitting agency and industry design; permitting and construction standards; and/or policies and procedures
• Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site

Nice To Haves: (optional; not all jobs will have this separate list)

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
• Academic or internship experience in transportation discipline preferred

Salary Range: $70,000-$86,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
