Qualifications

• Experience in safe animal handling or willingness to learn
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Identify risks affecting livestock well-being
• React quickly to unpredictable livestock behaviors
• Navigate pens with gates 33 inches high

Responsibilities

• Care for animals per welfare practices
• Adhere to bio-security protocols
• Communicate with farm manager, supervisor, and service staff
• Maintain farm facilities and equipment in clean, operating order
• Monitor hog health and report results
• Treat sick pigs under guidance from supervisors and vets
• Work 9–10 hour shifts; schedule may vary and can include various times
