Job summary

Case Farms, Inc. is seeking a field Poultry Production Specialist in Louisiana to work directly with growers, implement current science, and maximize flock performance.

The role requires frequent farm visits, coordination with hatchery and feed operations, and strict adherence to contracts and USDA regulations. The ideal candidate is college-educated in Poultry Science or related field, 18+ years old, proactive, self-motivated, and able to work unsupervised with strong ethics and basic math

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • College (minimum 2 years), prefer bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or a similar field, or commensurate field experience.
  • Ability to work proactively, unsupervised, and be self-motivated.
  • Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
  • Basic math functions and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Solve grower problems and establish a good working relationship between producers and the Company.
  • Provide current science as directed by the Company to maximize farm production.
  • Advise producers regarding building and equipment specifications.
  • Advise producers on litter manipulation and farm sanitation.
  • Routinely visit farms (frequent travel).
  • Properly document bird comfort, flock management, and equipment settings.
  • Direct light and feed schedules.
  • Monitor bird health, egg production, body weight, conformation, and feed consumption.
  • Pull blood and fat samples promptly.
  • Coordinate bird placements to farms and assist catch schedules, ensuring communication between Hatchery, Feedmill, vaccination crews, and Livehaul as it pertains to contract.
  • Ensure producer and company comply with production contract to produce high quality flocks at low cost.
  • Ensure USDA and other government regulations are followed when handling poultry.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements
  • Work in an outside environment (including inclement weather) daily.
  • Ability to climb a ladder to a height of 25 ft.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stoop and squat repetitively.
  • Workaround raw, live animal odors.
  • Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and around moving equipment.
