Job summary

Onsite Women's Health in Massachusetts seeks a certified diagnostic sonographer specializing in breast ultrasound. You will operate ultrasound equipment, perform and interpret diagnostic breast exams, and coordinate with physicians.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Sonography.
• ARDMS certification in Ultrasound is required.
• Breast imaging certification (ARDMS/ARRT) is preferred and breast imaging experience is a must.
• BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.
• Active ARDMS specialty certification is required or maintained.
• Continue CME participation as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment per infection control and safety protocols.
• Assume patient safety during the sonographic examination.
• Review patient history and supporting clinical information.
• Ensure order is complete and medically necessary for exam.
• Evaluate contraindications and patient preparation.
• Communicate with patient clearly and effectively.
• Use proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques.
• Conduct the diagnostic sonography exam ordered by the supervising physician.
• Apply independent judgment to safely perform procedures.
• Acquire additional ultrasound imaging as needed for diagnostic results.
• Identify limitations in the examination and document them.
• Review images, synthesize results, and prepare preliminary findings.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; adhere to standards.
• Provide preliminary report for interpreter physician.
• Assist with daily operation of the sonography facility.
