Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform screening and diagnostic breast imaging, including mammography, DEXA, and stereotactic biopsy support. You will ensure patient safety, deliver high-quality images, manage exam flow, and uphold safety standards.

Strong ARRT Mammography, IEMA accreditation, and BLS are preferred. This role supports regulatory compliance and patient-centered care in our imaging services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
• ARRT Mammography (M) certification.
• IEMA Accreditation.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
• Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
• Applies professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
• Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
• Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring.
• Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
• Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
• Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
