Job summary

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Breast Imaging faculty position in the Department of Radiology. The selected candidate will work across UC Health breast centers, performing screening and diagnostic imaging with tomosynthesis, ultrasound, and MRI, and will participate in teaching residents and fellows.

Qualified candidates will have an MD/DO, Ohio and Kentucky medical license, 4 years radiology residency, 1 year Breast Imaging fellowship, and

Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputationfor training best-in-class health care professionals and developingcutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health andclinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Healthacademic health care system and Cincinnati Children’s HospitalMedical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming theworld of medicine every day. The Department of Radiology is atop-tier department with world-renowned faculty andstaff.


A full-time (100%) academic faculty position is availablefor Breast Imaging Section in theDepartment of Radiology. All breast imagers arededicated exclusively to breast imaging and do not participate inthe general call schedule. This position will support theUniversity’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students,faculty, staff and all our activities. The selected candidate willwork at two UC Health breast centers, which are double accreditedby the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)and the American College of Radiology (ACR) as Centers ofExcellence. All facilities have state-of-the-art breast imagingsuites including a mobile mammography unit, Hologic equipment,Philips breast ultrasound, and PACS with integrated voicerecognition software, Epic EMR, and MyChart. The Breast Imagingsection has a robust clinical practice, performing approximately30,000 studies a year.


The Section of Breast Imaging is a collegial team ofbreast radiologists with varied backgrounds, clinical interests,and research expertise, creating a collaborative, positive, anddynamic work environment. Our faculty are outstanding educators,with members who are either recently fellowship-trained or havemore than 25 years of experience in breast imaging. The sectionincludes nationally recognized leaders who contribute toorganizations such as the ABR, ACR, RSNA, SBI, and BIFC, as well asinvestigators involved in ACRIN clinical trials.


The team is fully integrated and co-located withmultidisciplinary breast specialists at the UC Health BarrettCancer Center and West Chester Hospital. Faculty work closely withhighly skilled technologists, breast surgical oncologists,pathologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists toprovide comprehensive, patient-centered breast care.


The Department of Radiology is a group of 50 radiologistsestablished in the 1940s, which accepts 8 residents per year. TheBreast Imaging section is very active in education and offers 2Breast Imaging Fellowship positions per year. All applicants mustbe committed to providing exceptional clinical care and teaching.Rank and Track will be commensurate with experience and credentialsof candidate.


Essential Functions

Candidates must be comfortable with interpreting screeningand diagnostic mammography including digital breast tomosynthesis,as well as breast ultrasound, and breast MRI. Physicians areexpected to perform stereotactic/tomosynthesis, ultrasound, andMRI-guided biopsies as well as needle and RFID localizations.Duties will also include teaching and supervision of residents,medical students and fellows.


Minimum Requirements

Prior to the date of appointment:


  • Medical degree (MD/DO)
  • Ohio and Kentucky medical license
  • Four years of post-graduate radiology residencytraining
  • One year of fellowship training in BreastImaging
