Sherman Associates invites you to join Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis in the Mill District as a part-time server. The role focuses on guest service, multi-table support, and hospitality excellence.

You will welcome guests, take orders, upsell, process payments, and maintain cleanliness while upholding Canopy's culture. Prior hospitality experience is preferred; must be 18+, pass alcohol service training, and be able to work weekdays/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serves multiple tables as directed by management.
• Takes and fills customer orders; upsells alcohol and food items.
• Uses the POS system to ring orders and guest checks; handles payments and gives correct change.
• Maintains cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant; resets tables promptly.
• Checks IDs to ensure legal drinking age and offers alternatives when needed.

This position plays a major role in the hotel’s Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive customer experience. A server must be friendly, courteous, professional, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, think/act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure.

Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends. Available shifts are as follows:

• AM: Saturdays-Tuesdays 6 am - 2 pm with the ability to pick up more shifts & hours.

Pay: $16.37/hour + generous tips

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Serves multiple tables, as determined by management
• Understands Room Service, Club Lounge, Banquet and Restaurant’s food and beverage menu
• Takes and fills customer orders
• Upsells alcohol and food items
• Uses the computer to ring orders and guest checks
• Interacts with all guests in a friendly/fast manner
• Accepts different types of payments and makes accurate change
• Maintains specific side-work and ensures the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
• Quickly clears and resets tables
• Checks identification of guests to ensure legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
• If consuming alcoholic beverages, observes guest’s behavior, counts number of drinks served, and if the server feels they should not drive, offers
• Knows when to elevate situations for management intervention
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
• Must be able to pass required Alcohol service training

• Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs
• Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner
• Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively
• Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift
