Summary
As a Breakfast Host/Hostess for Summit Hospitality Group, you hold an essential position responsible for delivering and managing a standard complimentary breakfast each morning according to the specific brand’s policies and procedures. This is a very visible hospitality role that requires a high level of attention to detail, friendly service, focus on cost control and waste management, and a sense of urgency. The person filling this role is an ambassador of the core values of Summit Hospitality Group where Service is the Ultimate Amenity.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hotel/restaurant with major brand, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, preferred.
- Exceptional people skills: ability to train others quickly and efficiently.
- Proficient with inventory control and waste management.
- Professional communication skills both verbal and written (English proficiency).
Responsibilities
- Arrive at work normally around 5:00 am or 6:00 am depending on opening; this first hour is devoted to breakfast preparation.
- Prepare all standard hotel varieties of coffee: regular, robust, decaf and hot water for tea.
- Stock coffee stations: creamers, sugar options, cups, lids, stirrers, and napkins; and restock as necessary during shift.
- Prepare hot foods, including heating cooked frozen foods in a convection oven (egg, meat, carbohydrate options each day) to appropriate temperatures, then placing them in buffet line chafing dishes. Oatmeal/hot cereal is prepared in a crock pot and placed in the buffet line.
- Prepare waffle batter and fill dispenser if applicable.
- Set up bakery items with muffins, danish, and breads.
- Set up cold items with cut fruit, yogurt, hard‑boiled eggs, cereal, milk, etc.
- Monitor food levels and refresh as necessary, clearing and cleaning breakfast dishes.
- Greet guests during frequent visits to the eating area.
- At the close of breakfast, break down and clean breakfast serving areas and clean breakfast area guest tables.
- Dispose of exposed food items; wash dishes and set up for the next day. Countertops are cleaned, floors vacuumed, and mopped by the breakfast host/hostess.
- Food deliveries may be made 2–3 times per week; the host is responsible for verifying that all items are present and stocking items in appropriate storage areas.
- Follow directions of the supervisor.
- Complete brand‑required training.
Work Environment
- Flexible work schedule, including early mornings and weekends.
- Must have a reliable source of transportation.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 30–50 pounds without assistance.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, reach, or walk for an extended period of time.
- Duties are subject to change and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
