Job summary

Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking a Brass and Percussion Instrument Technician to repair, overhaul, and tune a wide range of brass and percussion instruments in a school-based setting. The role involves maintenance, minor fabrication, and parts replacement to keep instruments in ready condition for student performances.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of repair experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a instrument repair credential or certificate.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in brass and percussion instrument repair; certificate/diploma may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, overhauls, adjusts and tunes brass and percussion instruments.
• Repairs mouthpieces, slides, valves, tubing, and waterkeys.
• Performs soldering, brazing, and burnishing; replaces bumpers and pads.
• Repairs and replaces drumheads, rods, hooks, and snares.
• Repairs instrument cases.
• Fabricates or modifies parts.
