Job summary

Thinking Machines Lab Inc. is seeking an experienced brand designer in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA to shape how the company presents itself across websites, launches, publications, and physical materials.

You will guide visual direction, typography, imagery, and interaction, with autonomy to pursue bold ideas. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and researchers, taking concepts from exploration to finished work, while valuing experimentation and a distinct point of view.

Qualifications

• A portfolio showing original ideas and strong visual design across formats.
• Technical capability to build and ship digital work with accessibility in mind.
• Initiative and clear communication to shape an open brief and drive projects to completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop visual ideas and evolve the brand across real projects, focusing on typography, imagery, composition, and interaction.
• Design, build, and improve the website, using code as part of your creative practice to explore ideas and create thoughtful digital experiences.
• Create reusable systems and tools, from artwork generators to data-driven charts and publishing components.
• Collaborate with illustrators, animators, and designers, integrating contributions into finished work and assisting production where needed.
