Job summary

QPS Employment Group is seeking a Metal Fabricator in Richmond, IL. The position offers 1st or 2nd shift and a potential for permanent hire after orientation, with duties including reading blueprints, fabricating metal parts, welding, and assembling subassemblies.

You will operate fabrication tools, inspect work, and ensure safety and quality while meeting production schedules in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metal fabrication or welding preferred.
• Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or welding required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurement tools.
• Proficient with fabrication tools, welding equipment, and basic shop machinery.
• Strong math, measurement, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and reaching.
• Commitment to safety and quality in all work performed.
• Manufacturing or fabrication shop environment experience.
• Exposure to heat, noise, sparks, and metalworking equipment; PPE required.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal components using saws, shears, torches, presses, brakes, rollers and other equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and work orders.
• Perform layout, measurement and cutting of materials to exact specifications.
• Weld, tack or braze metal parts using MIG, TIG or stick welding techniques.
• Fit, assemble and secure components to create finished products or subassemblies.
• Use grinders, sanders and finishing tools to smooth welds and prepare surfaces.
• Inspect finished work for accuracy, quality and adherence to specifications.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment safely.
• Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe work environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules.
