Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Branch Operations Manager to lead the service center’s daily operations, safety, inventory accuracy and administration. The role drives standard operating procedures, controls costs, and ensures smooth material flow while coordinating with support departments.

The position requires five years in operations or customer service leadership, strong Excel skills, and proven people management ability, with on-site work in a service center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adopt an 80/20 operating philosophy in managing the operations of the service center.
  • Create, Implement, and sustain required standard operating procedures.
  • Measure performance using metrics against predefined goals in safety, inventory accuracy, equipment inspection and PM.
  • Resolve issues within the material flow of the service center and ensure transactions flow accurately 100% of the time.
  • Foster alignment with Functional Support Departments.
  • Ensure proper stocking, movement, and loading of material.
  • Manage staffing at the service center and control labor overtime.
  • Monitor and control premium freight and repair expenses while prioritizing safety.

Description

The Branch Operations Manager a dynamic position responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the operations of the service center. This position is responsible for safety, transaction quality, inventory accuracy, facility maintenance, yard productivity, and administration through the implementation of standard operating procedures. This position owns the operations inside a Branch, and it reports to the Branch Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment through training, inspection, and corrective action.
  • Adopt an 80/20 operating philosophy in managing the operations of the service center.
  • Create, Implement, and sustain required standard operating procedures.
  • Measure performance using metrics against pre-defined goals in areas such as safety, inventory accuracy, equipment inspection and PM, and all other areas.
  • Resolve issues within the material flow of the service center and implement procedures to ensure that transactions flow accurately 100% of the time.
  • Foster alignment with Functional Support Departments.
  • Ensure proper stocking, movement, and loading of material.
  • Manage or complete daily managerial duties such as facility and equipment maintenance and repair, OSHA requirements, safety training, control of fuel and P-card purchases, etc.
  • Manage staffing at the service center, including controlling and minimizing labor overtime.
  • Monitor and control premium freight and repair expenses but never at the expense of safety.
  • Manage transaction accuracy by making sure each day’s transactions are updated in the system the day during which they occur and ensuring performance goals are met in this functional area.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages Yard and Delivery personnel with a strong “dotted line” to the Customer Service Representatives. This position is responsible for ensuring alignment between the service centers and the functional support departments.

Requirements
  • Five years in Customer Service, Operations or Operations Management
  • Good Computer skills, Proficient in Excel
  • High School Degree
  • Experience in directly managing people

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
