As a qualification for this position, the Branch Manager Trainee will be placed in a local retail branch and must successfully complete a comprehensive training program that will give them a working knowledge of our industry, our customers, and our organization. In addition, this program is designed around branch-oriented and professional development training to ensure that, once completed, the Trainee will be able to meet the demanding challenges of this position. Upon completion, the candidate will be required to meet and exceed both divisional and regional objectives for the fiscal performance of a branch, which includes sales, budgeting, gross margins, and operational expenses. Other key areas of responsibility include safety, customer service, inventory levels, accounts receivable, and resolution of personnel issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend and successfully complete all training modules provided by Airgas in the development role.
  2. Responsible for the safety, health and welfare of sales, operations, and all associates.
  3. Administers, and is responsible for, safety policies and procedures in accordance with regional, SAFECOR, local, state, and federal guidelines.
  4. Answering customer inquiries.
  5. Computer entry of customer orders.
  6. Coordinating with territory sales personnel to grow market sales and margins.
  7. Pulling and packaging customer orders.
  8. Receiving as necessary.
  9. Pre-calling.
  10. Daily selection of cash and charge orders.
  11. Reconciliation of cash and bank deposit.
  12. Reconciliation of open order edit list, quote list, purchase order report by item, selected order edit list.
  13. Ensure that internal and external customers receive prompt acknowledgment and service in a pleasant manner.
  14. Additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Are you a MATCH?

Bachelor’s degree preferred; a combination of college training and experience will be considered.

  1. Proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  2. Experience with SAP is a plus.
  3. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  4. Ability to work independently.
  5. Professional communication skills (verbal and written).
  6. Basic product knowledge of welding, safety, gases, and supplies is preferred.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of financial accounting terms and principles including Gross Margin, Gross Margin %, Operating Income, Return On Investment (ROI), Internal Rate of Return, Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement.
  8. Professional phone skills.
  9. Forklift experience is preferred.
  10. Proficiency in time management and organization skills.
  11. Strong leadership skills.
  12. Astute problem-solving skills and administrative accuracy.
