Job summary

The Natural Bridge Branch of the St. Louis County Library is seeking a full-time Branch Manager to supervise the operation and maintenance of the branch and provide quality library service to all customers.

The St. Louis County Library System serves over 860,000 patrons with a mission to enrich minds and expand perspectives, offering updated facilities and diverse programs. This role includes supervising staff, safety, and programming at the Natural Bridge Branch.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science.
• Two-three years previous work experience in a supervisory capacity within a library.
• Ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff.
• Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service to Library customers.
• Must possess good judgment, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Must possess excellent communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work effectively with other Library managers in a professional manner.

• Coordinates the maintenance of the branch building and grounds to provide a clean and safe environment for Library customers and staff.
• Plans, develops, and facilitates programming, or supervises this activity, to respond to the needs of the community.
• Monitors, maintains, and organizes the collection to respond to the unique needs of the community.
• Interprets policy and procedures, and participates in administrative functions to connect the branch to the system.
• Provides assistance to customers to ensure quality service.

Job description

The Natural Bridge Branch is seeking a full time Branch Manager to supervise the operation and maintenance of the branch to provide quality Library service to all Library customers.

The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.

Salary: $77,512.00

Hours: Monday - Friday; two evenings per week

One Saturday and Sunday per month

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Supervises staff to ensure the smooth operation of the branch.
2. Coordinates the maintenance of the branch building and grounds to provide a clean and safe environment for Library customers and staff.
3. Plans, develops, and facilitates programming, or supervises this activity, to respond to the needs of the community.
4. Monitors, maintains, and organizes the collection to respond to the unique needs of the community.
5. Interprets policy and procedures, and participates in administrative functions to connect the branch to the system.
6. Provides assistance to customers to ensure quality service.
