Job summary

County Materials in Appleton, WI is seeking a Branch Manager L&M to lead all branch operations, drive financial performance, and deliver a best-in-class customer experience. You will partner with regional and corporate leadership to execute business strategies, improve efficiency, and develop a strong talent pipeline.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of supervisory experience in branch operations, strong leadership, budgeting, and a proven ability to manage safety, inventory, and service quality

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in branch operations, sales, distribution, retail, construction materials, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience with responsibility for employee selection, coaching, performance management, and corrective action required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial results, budgets, operational goals, and performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to build an accountable, customer-focused team.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and confidence making timely business and personnel decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of branch operations including sales, customer service, inventory, logistics, staffing, safety, and facility upkeep.
  • Own the financial performance of the branch by developing and executing plans to achieve revenue, profitability, expense, and growth goals.
  • Establish branch goals, monitor key performance indicators, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with the Regional Sales Team to develop customer relationships, execute sales strategies, and achieve branch sales targets.
  • Deliver a best-in-class customer experience by resolving concerns, maintaining service standards, and promoting responsive, solution-oriented support.
  • Plan branch staffing needs and partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, select, onboard, and retain qualified team members.
  • Coach and develop employees through clear expectations, regular feedback, performance management, recognition, and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive work environment that reflects company values and supports employee engagement.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, product availability, receiving, storage, and material movement while minimizing loss and excess inventory.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency, service quality, and productivity.
  • Implement and enforce all safety programs, training requirements, and safe work practices; promptly address hazards and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and branch appearance standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between branch employees and regional and corporate leadership, communicating business needs, results, and priorities.
  • Operate equipment, including a forklift or skid steer, as needed and when properly trained and authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support branch and organizational needs.
