Job summary

State Employees Credit Union of New Mexico is seeking a Branch Manager in Belen to lead, coach and mentor staff, develop a sales and service culture, and build a strong reputation in the local community.

This exempt on-site role reports to the Vice President of Retail Engagement and requires 3–5 years of progressive management experience and a BS/BA in a relevant field, with a salary range of $63,252.80–$79,060.80.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or have GED.

Responsibilities

  • Lead branch to achieve annual goals and support strategic initiatives.
  • Develop a business development plan and engage with the local community.
  • Coach staff to reach sales and service goals and build member relationships.
  • Provide training and development plans for employees and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Ensure branch compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee security, opening/closing procedures and risk management.
  • Maintain high service levels for members and internal staff.
  • Monitor branch performance to optimize profitability and opportunities to upsell.

Job Summary

The Branch Manager's job is to make a profit for the branch. This is done by leading, coaching and mentoring staff to achieve branch goals; by developing a sales and service culture in the branch and providing a high level of service so the credit union gains a good reputation in the community. (Must be in current position 24 months.)

Duties/Responsibilities
  • The Branch Manager is responsible for managing his/her branch to achieve the annual goals. They must ensure that everyone in the branch understands and fully supports the goals and strategic initiatives of the Credit Union.
  • Create and manage a business development plan designed to complement branch and Credit Union strategic goals. The Branch Manager is expected to be an accepted and involved member of the local community.
  • Create sales and cross selling plan for the branch and coach and mentor employees to reach goals. Staff must be held accountable for developing relationships and bringing in new business.
  • Responsible for the training and professional development of employees by creating and maintaining a written plan for each employee.
  • Complete timely performance appraisals for employees to verify that objectives are being met and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Ensure that all work in the branch is completed in a high standard and in accordance with SECU policy, procedures and guidelines, to protect his/her branch from loss.
  • Ensure that staff is providing a high level of service to members and internal members in order to build a strong service culture and service reputation in the community.
  • Monitor key productions/sales within branch office to ensure profitable and sound business practices for the Credit Union, and to ensure employees are maximizing opportunities to sell products.
  • Ensure that the Branch office is in compliance with Federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure the Branch remains in compliance with the Branch Security and Internal Control procedures, Operational procedures and Lending procedures and receives clean surprise audit reports.
  • Manage the security and safety of the branch office, by following security and robbery procedures, testing alarms and equipment monthly and making sure staff is following opening and closing procedures.
  • Responsible for making sure risk situations are identified and action taken to minimize risk throughout the branch.
  • Performs all other assigned duties.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Physical Demands - Requires sitting for long periods of time, some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, grasping and fine hand coordination. Visual and aural acuity required. Finger and hand dexterity required. Must be able to lift 20 pounds maximum, with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires ability to read and write English and ability to communicate with members, and personnel. Must have ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions. Requires ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Work Conditions - Inside.
  • Job Related Travel - As required.
Education/Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or have the equivalent of a high school diploma (G.E.D. certificate).
  • Equivalent to a BS or BA in relevant field of 3-5 years similar or related experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience.
  • Must have a high level of experience in effective leadership and communication to deal effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have knowledge of office machines and equipment and be able to type.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the members and general public.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
