Job summary

Johnstone Supply | Balsan Group is seeking a Branch Manager in Portland, ME to lead a high-performing branch and drive sales growth within a fast-paced HVAC distribution environment.

You will build a strong team, manage daily operations, and maintain exceptional customer service while coordinating with purchasing and logistics. A hands-on leader with HVAC knowledge and 2+ years of supervisory experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• 3+ years HVAC industry experience (distribution preferred).
• 2+ years leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC products and contractor needs.
• Experience with ERP/POS systems (Eclipse or similar).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and support warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead branch sales and local growth strategies to drive performance.
• Build relationships with HVAC contractors and key accounts; partner with outside sales.
• Hire, train, and lead counter sales, warehouse, and delivery teams; foster a customer-focused culture.
• Oversee daily branch operations, safety standards, and inventory control.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L; track KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Resolve customer issues and support counter operations during peak periods.

What You’ll Do:

Branch Leadership & Sales

• Drive branch sales performance and local growth strategies
• Build strong relationships with HVAC contractors and key accounts
• Partner with outside sales to support customer development

Team Management

• Hire, train, and lead counter sales, warehouse, and delivery teams
• Coach employees and build a strong customer-focused culture
• Manage scheduling and branch coverage

Operations & Inventory

• Oversee daily branch operations, safety, and service standards
• Manage inventory levels, cycle counts, and product availability
• Coordinate with purchasing and logistics teams

Financial Performance

• Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance
• Track KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement

Customer Service

• Resolve customer issues and serve as escalation point when needed
• Support counter operations during peak periods

What We’re Looking For:
