Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and NC machines to fabricate metallic parts in the Brakepress area on 2nd shift. This role supports the Electric Heat business within a global manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will have a brief but focused background in machining, the ability to read blueprints or specs, and a commitment to quality and safety in a high‑volume production setting.

Qualifications

  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand and use hands; lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Design and/or develop tools, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Measures and marks dimensions on material or workpiece as guides for machining.
  • Choose fixtures and tools; set up and operate machines (mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, shapers).
  • Set controls for speed, feed, coolant, and depth of cut; monitor for malfunctions.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications; perform trial runs.
  • Assemble parts into complete units and verify alignment.
  • Install machined replacement parts and test unit operation.

Education

High school diploma or GED
Machinist coursework (eight terms)
