Job summary

The Great Plains Health team is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses in delivering direct patient care in the Brain and Spine Providers unit. You will greet patients, record vital signs, review systems, and verify information in the EMR to ensure accurate charts prior to visits.

Working under supervision, you will assist with in-office procedures, manage supplies, and participate in safety and sterile technique practices to keep rooms ready for patients while supporting

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• BLS required.
• Medication Aide 40 certification within 6 months of hiring; renew every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Explains procedures and reinforces provider recommendations using the AIDET process.
• Provides prescribed sample medications and administers injections/immunizations as prescribed.
• Uses EMR to record visit, vital signs, ROS, medication lists, family and social history; documents in patient chart.
• Maintains/sample medications and documents in patient chart; processes prescription refill requests to pharmacies.
• Tracks lab and procedure orders; communicates results to the healthcare team.
• Initiates a patient education plan and documents understanding of instructions in the chart.
• Completes and documents patient phone calls in the chart.
• Assists with office procedures as requested by physician.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant certification

BLS

Medication Aide 40 certification within 6 months; renewal every 2 years
