Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking a Brain Bowl Advisor for Ashland High School. This temporary role involves supporting and overseeing the Brain Bowl, working with students, staff, and administration to ensure alignment with ASD standards and school expectations.

The advisor will plan practices, teach Brain Bowl skills, and develop seasonal goals while maintaining records and ensuring student safety. Collaboration with families and district personnel is essential.

Qualifications

• Background in a related field.
• Experience with high school students in leadership or extracurricular settings.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to mentor and guide students in leadership development and service learning.
• Ability to organize events and supervise students outside of school day and field trips.

Responsibilities

• Holds organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
• Teaches the skills necessary to participate and to be competitive in Brain Bowl.
• Teaches the strategies necessary to participate and to be competitive in Brain Bowl.
• Develops seasonal goals and objectives and daily plans.
• Develops lines of communication with students, staff, parents, officials, and booster clubs to promote Brain Bowl.
• Maintains a record that includes information about equipment, supplies, student eligibility, and emergency medical information.
• Ensures adult supervision of students before and after meetings, competitions, and on bus trips.
• Provides for the safety and security of all students.
• Follows all specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and Ashland School District.
• Actively encourages student participation.
