Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct/consultative services to students with visual impairments.
  • Teach Braille, Early Literacy Code, and other skills.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the IEP.

Skills

Excellent command of UEB Braille and Nemeth code
Knowledge of braille pedagogy
Ability to teach braille to advanced learners
Comfort and skill in teaching functional daily living experiences
Knowledge of low vision tools
Ability to administer and interpret assessments
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Understanding of human behavior dynamics
Drive to use personal vehicle
Effective use of Microsoft Office

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Valid Texas teacher certification
Valid Texas certification as Educator of the Visually Impaired
