Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Must learn and demonstrate understanding of braille.
• Willingness to complete a braille transcription certification program from NLSB or NBA.
• Ability to use arms, hands and fingers for advanced translation and interpretation.
• Must have visual acuity to recognize objects, numbers and words.
• Associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supply braille classroom materials on request.
• Format braille materials according to Nemeth rules and VI teacher guidance.
• Provide embossed materials: textbooks, teacher-made materials, pictorial layouts, math/science notation, workbooks, tactile maps/graphs, music notation, foreign languages.
• Work with students under VI teacher guidance.
• Maintain inventory and equipment for braille materials.
• Coordinate delivery of braille materials across schools.
• Demonstrate organizational skills and punctuality.
• Maintain confidentiality and confidentiality of student information.
• Attend required professional development.
