Job summary

Douglas County School District seeks a Brailist - Certified to modify and produce instructional materials for students with visual impairments. The role involves creating Braille formats, tactile graphics, and adapted textbooks under the guidance of a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments.

The position emphasizes collaboration with SPED staff, timely material preparation, and ongoing Braille skills development to support students’ learning needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Colorado Braille Competency and Literary Braille Transcribing certifications.
• Ability to work with students with visual impairments, including Braille materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction of students under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Prepare adapted materials including Braille and tactile graphics.
• Produce textbooks and other materials requiring special formatting.
• Collaborate with SPED teacher on scheduling and IEP tasks.
• Prepare adapted materials using Braille and other techniques.
• Develop materials that meet the needs of students with visual impairments.
• Participate in professional development to advance Braille skills.
