Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a high school assistant coach to work under the head coach within the Marana Unified School District. You will lead program development, plan practices, and ensure students meet academic and athletic standards in alignment with AIA and NFHS rules.

The role emphasizes leadership, integrity, and professional conduct, with responsibilities including player development, equipment coordination, and effective communication with families and administrators.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching the assigned sport.
• Excellent communication with students and parents.
• Patient, positive, proactive attitude when working with youth.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Completion of NFHS Concussions in Sports course.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates dependability, organization, respect, integrity and sportsmanship.
• Uses positive interpersonal relations and effective communication skills.
• Maintains inventory and procures equipment with staff and vendors.
• Communicates schedules, expectations and playing time at season start.
• Organizes try-outs, practice and game plans, including additional coaching staff.
• Ensures player safety and maintains safe playing environments.
• Adheres to district, school procedures and NFHS rules.
