Job summary

Wilmington Public Schools is seeking a part-time Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach at Wilmington High School in Wilmington, MA. The coach will lead all coaching and athletic discipline, implement district policies, and ensure safety and compliance with athletic guidelines.

The role requires prior coaching experience with adolescents, current CPR/First Aid certification, and completion of MIAA Coaches Education. Collaboration with the Athletic Director and community programs is expected.

Qualifications

• Previous successful playing and/or coaching; experience working with adolescents.
• Current CPR, First Aid Certification.
• Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and other requirements by the MIAA.

Responsibilities

• Model the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially sportsmanship.
• Have full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline.
• Implement WHS Athletic Department policies and team rules.
• Be responsible for information contained in the MIAA Handbook and WHS Athletic Guide.
• Stay informed of rule changes and trends affecting the sport.
• Be present at each practice session and at all contests.
• Develop an organized written practice plan with warm-up and cool-down.
• Ensure facilities and equipment safety and teach safety procedures.
• Perform duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.
• Implement game plans and game management.
• Process medical forms, parent consent forms and eligibility reports.
• Work with community members involved in youth sports.
• Directly supervise squad members at home and away contests.
• Supervise all team members transported by school buses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Model the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship.

• Stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport.
• Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached.
• Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis.
• Make sure that the facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed in all areas.
• Perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics
• Implement game plans and game management.

  ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  
  All coaches are directly responsible to the Director of Athletics. The coach of each individual sport shall recognize that any activity sponsored by WHS Athletics is an integral component of the overall educational program offered by WHS. Accordingly, individuals responsible for such activities shall conduct their programs in a manner consistent with sound educational principles and established program goals to ensure that athletics serve as a meaningful and constructive part of the school’s total educational experience.
