Job summary

Kelso School District is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Swimming for the Winter season. This stipend position supports the head coach in developing the program, coordinating practices and meets, and promoting safe, positive participation for student-athletes.

The role requires First Aid/CPR, a willingness to maintain certifications, and a professional approach aligned with district policies.

Qualifications

• Previous training and/or experience in coaching appropriate sport preferred
• Must possess valid First Aid and CPR cards and maintain current cards
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, coaches
• Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
• Positive attitude when working with youth
• Understand the sport rules per WIAA Handbook and district policies
• Must be at least 19 years of age per WIAA

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of the athletic program as directed by the head coach
• Assist the head coach with organizational matters before, during, and after the season
• Assist the head coach with supervisory responsibilities
• Communicate openly and immediately any concerns to the head coach
• Act as head coach if designated by the head coach during absence
• Obey rules of conduct expected of a head coach
• Administer first aid when necessary and file accident reports
• Support disciplinary actions outlined in policy
• Adhere to district policies and regulations
• Emphasize safety and injury precautions
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Assist in care, storage, inventory and ordering of equipment
• Stay current with new knowledge and techniques in the sport
• Maintain regular attendance
• Uphold school rules and board policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned
