Job summary

Turner Unified School District 202 is seeking an Assistant Varsity Coach to support the coaching staff for grades 7-12 and promote sportsmanship and safety.

The role reports to the Head Varsity Coach and Athletic Director and involves supervising practices, ensuring compliance with district policies, and helping maintain a positive athletic environment. The position pays according to negotiated agreement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university or meet Rule 10 requirements.
• Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate on file in the Central Office meet Rule 10 requirements.
• Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
• At least three years of coaching experience at the secondary level.

Responsibilities

• Ability to obtain and maintain current first aid, CPR and AED certifications.
• Ability to provide supervision and quality instruction to staff and participants (Instructional and Non-instructional).
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations (Establish, communicate, and enforce rules).
• Ability to remind athletes of the inherent dangers of the sport.
• Ability to match competitors by skill, experience, maturity, height/weight, age, and gender.
• Ability to develop and implement a safe environment (equipment and facility conditions).
• Ability to provide a plan for handling injuries (foreseen and unforeseen).
• Ability to be a role model of character, conduct, and good sportsmanship.
