Job summary

The Reading School District is seeking a Middle School Assistant Coach to supervise student athletes and promote safe, positive participation in athletics. The role emphasizes teaching education through athletics, aligning with PIAA and district policies, and fostering school pride.

Responsibilities include staying current with coaching methods, ensuring safety, and coordinating with staff, officials, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferable experience supervising athletics, recreation, education, or related fields.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise student athletes
• Stay current with coaching rules, techniques, schemes, and best practices
• Monitor student-athletes to prevent injuries
• Place student-athletes in positions to succeed in their sport and life
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication with staff, officials, and community
• Ensure safety measures and proper equipment handling
• Attend all trainings and staff meetings
• Work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Verify eligibility by PIAA and Reading School District policies
• Secure equipment and facilities after each usage
• Communicate with admin, safe schools, custodial, and police as needed
• Engage with youth groups to promote participation growth
• Be a good role model to student-athletes
• Support all Reading School District athletics
