Qualifications

• Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement (BOEE) is required.
• CPR/AED, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention certifications current.
• Knowledge of high school athletic rules, techniques, and strategy.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff and student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Enforces athletic policies approved by the district Board of Education.
• Applies state and conference regulations consistently across the program.
• Communicates through proper channels; attends department, district, and league meetings.
• Establishes a program philosophy, coaching progression, and culture of accountability.
• Mentors assistant coaches and promotes professional development.
• Oversees scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics; coordinates facility use.
• Monitors student-athlete academic progress and behavior; represents district publicly.
• Ensures safe equipment and facilities; reports injuries within 24 hours.
• Maintains discipline with transparent due process and communicates with families.
