Job summary

Head Boys Golf Coach position at Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District in Waverly, Iowa. The stipend-based role reports to the Athletic Director/Building Principal and supports program goals with leadership and mentorship of staff and student-athletes.

The coach enforces district policies, coordinates with teams and administrators, and promotes safety, sportsmanship, and post-secondary opportunities for athletes. Requires relevant Iowa coaching credentials and emergency certifications.

Qualifications

• Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement (BOEE).
• Strong knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques, and strategy.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Understanding of Iowa high school eligibility and safety requirements.
• Current certifications: CPR/AED, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention.

Responsibilities

• Enforces athletic policies approved by the WSR Board of Education.
• Guides and mentors assistant coaches and promotes professional development.
• Assists Athletic Director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics.
• Coordinates facility use with custodial and maintenance staff.
• Monitors student-athlete academic progress and behavior.
