Qualifications

• High school/youth coaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate young athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build positive relationships with players, parents, and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must pass background checks and comply with school and district policies.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred but not required at hiring.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Coach and mentor freshman players during practices and games with constructive feedback.
• Organize and conduct tryouts with a fair and inclusive selection process.
• Collaborate with head coach and staff to align on goals and strategies.
• Monitor academic and athletic progress of players and promote balance between sports and education.
• Foster a positive team culture emphasizing respect, hard work, and sportsmanship.
• Communicate with players, parents, and administration about team activities and expectations.
• Attend practices, games, and meetings and fulfill additional duties as assigned.
• Assist in organizing team events, fundraisers, and community outreach.

Requirements

This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.
