Job summary

The Salvation Army Pasadena Distribution Center is seeking a Class B/C driver to join the Operations Team. You will safely operate a box truck, handle loading/unloading, and follow daily routes while maintaining excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include route management, training helpers, and adhering to DOT regulations. Flexible schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license (Class B or C).
• Clean Driving Record.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and avoid off-route moves unless directed.
• Manage time daily to complete the route within the schedule; routes must be completed each day.
• Responsible for safe loading and unloading of the truck; assist with loading/unloading of other trucks as needed.
• Train, instruct and supervise truck helper in the Work Therapy Assignment.
• Handle Bag & Tag per supervisor instructions; act as a courteous representative of The Salvation Army.
• Report donor problems to supervisor through dispatch; maintain customer service standards.
• Comply with all DOT regulations and state/local laws; attend driver safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

As our enthusiastic and hardworking CLASS B/C DRIVER (Production Assistant 1), you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

1. 1. Following daily routing directions and avoid going off route without exception, unless directed by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
2. 2. Managing your time daily to ensure the route is completed within the approved work schedule. Routes are to be 100% completed each day, without exception, unless approved by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
3. 3. Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of assigned truck. Assist in the safe loading or unloading of other trucks as requested.
4. 4. Training, instruct and supervise truck helper in their Work Therapy Assignment (WTA), keeping in mind that helper is in a rehabilitation program and that good personal and professional work habits are taught by example, as well as by instruction.
5. 5. Responsible for Bag & Tag as instructed by Supervisor and procedure.
6. 6. As a representative of The Salvation Army, ensuring that all customers are treated courteously and with good customer service. Immediately report all donor problems and concerns that occur during donation pick-ups to supervisor, through dispatch.
7. 7. Abide by all DOT regulations and state and local laws while maintaining a safe driving record. Attend all driver safety meetings as required.
8. 8. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Transportation Supervisor, Director of Production, or their designated representatives.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.

• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks

Schedule

Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate coverage. Full-time employees may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
