Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is seeking a driver to operate a vehicle to pick up, transport, and deliver donated goods in Phoenix, AZ. You will comply with safety policies, wear PPE, and safeguard items during transit.

Requirements include at least 6 months of intercity driving with a valid license, plus the ability to read and speak English. This position may require overtime and attendance at work every day as scheduled.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Six months intercity driving experience in a 5-speed automatic, 26-foot bobtail, or equivalent with air brakes.
• Must be able to read and speak English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a vehicle to collect, transport, and deliver donations and materials.
• Safeguard donated goods to prevent damage during shipment.
• Assist with unloading and ensure quality of items during handling.
• Follow safety policies and wear required PPE at all times.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform daily vehicle maintenance checks.
• Communicate with customers and escalate concerns as needed.

Position Description

Responsible for safely operating a vehicle to pick up, transport and/or deliver donated goods for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Must have strong adherence to all safety policies and wearing all required personal protective equipment at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operates a vehicle to collect, transport and/or deliver donations, processed merchandise and other materials, as directed.
• Safeguards donated goods to prevent damage during shipment.
• Assists with unloading of merchandise, minimizing damage to donated materials.
• Acts courteously, handles customer concerns, and resolves and/or escalates when necessary.
• Follows all established policies, procedures and local, county, state and federal laws.
• Performs daily vehicle maintenance checks.
• Ensures daily work requirements are met, maintaining quality and quantity performance.
• May be required to work overtime to complete assigned tasks.
• Responsible for following and ensuring all safety rules are complied with and appropriate safety equipment is used.
• Immediately takes action and/or reports any unsafe or potential hazards.
• Unloads vehicles and moves items as required.
• Provides basic direction to Truck Helper, when applicable.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.

• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

• High School education or equivalent
• Must have a minimum of six months intercity driving experience driving a 5-speed automatic transmission, 26-foot bobtail, or equivalent with air brakes
• Ability to be trained and take direction
• Ability to speak and read English proficiently
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Valid drivers’ license and clean MVR as well as a Medical Examiner’s Certificate
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position
