Flor de India is seeking an experienced and hands-on Boutique Hotel Manager to take a leading role in the day-to-day operation of our boutique property in San Juan.
This is a highly visible leadership position for someone who enjoys being close to the guest experience while also taking a broader view of the operation. The Boutique Hotel Manager will work across departments, lead and develop the property team, maintain high standards throughout the hotel and ensure the operation runs smoothly and consistently.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with ownership and play an active part in shaping the hotel’s continued development. From guest experience and team leadership to operational processes, property standards and commercial performance, the Boutique Hotel Manager will have a meaningful influence on how the hotel operates and grows.
We are looking for a confident and practical hospitality professional who is comfortable working independently, making decisions and taking ownership. Someone who can move easily between the wider operational picture and the details on the ground, whether supporting a team member, resolving a guest concern, inspecting the property or improving a process.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in creating a well-run, welcoming property and wants the opportunity to make a visible impact. It is an opportunity to take the next step into broader hotel leadership, with the independence to help run the property while remaining closely connected to the guest experience and day-to-day operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
On The Floor / Guest-Facing
- Maintain a visible, accessible presence throughout the property for guests and team members.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, common areas and operational spaces, maintaining consistent standards for cleanliness, presentation and service.
- Oversee the guest journey from reservation through check-out, ensuring a consistent and welcoming experience.
- Maintain consistently high standards of guest service, ensuring the property reflects the standards and character of Flor de India.
- Act as the senior point of contact for guest requests, concerns and service recovery, handling escalated issues professionally and efficiently.
- Coordinate VIP stays, special requests and other guest requirements.
- Monitor guest feedback and identify opportunities to improve the overall guest experience.
Behind The Scenes
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel and ensure all areas meet established standards.
- Coordinate Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance and other operational functions to ensure the property operates cohesively. As a small, independent property, the Boutique Hotel Manager will oversee all hotel functions directly.
- Manage day-to-day operational requirements, including scheduling, purchasing, inventory and property needs.
- Coordinate vendors, contractors, maintenance providers and other external partners.
- Monitor room availability, reservations and property management systems, including managing rates across OTA channels. Strong OTA management experience is required.
- Develop, implement and maintain operational procedures and SOPs as the property evolves.
- Identify operational issues and inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain appropriate licensing, insurance, safety procedures and operational standards.
- Lead, support and develop the hotel team: approximately six housekeeping staff, in addition to coordinating external vendors such as pool maintenance and pest control.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training.
- Establish clear expectations around service, presentation and performance.
- Prepare and manage team schedules in line with operational requirements.
- Provide coaching and ongoing performance feedback.
- Promote a professional, collaborative and accountable working environment.
- Work closely with ownership on staffing requirements, personnel needs and team development.
- Monitor hotel operating costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and expense control. Overall financial management is handled by ownership's team, though the role has autonomy over specific operational pricing decisions, such as setting prices for breakfast or in-room amenities.
- Hold full responsibility for revenue, occupancy, ADR and pricing decisions.
- Monitor occupancy, room rates and overall property performance.
- Monitor reservations and booking channels to support occupancy and revenue objectives.
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, such as corporate buyouts, wellness retreats and other niche bookings.
- Work with ownership on commercial priorities, business objectives and opportunities to improve property performance.
- Maintain awareness of the relationship between guest experience, operating costs and commercial performance.
- Provide regular updates to ownership on operational, staffing, guest experience and commercial performance.
- Purchase and vendor contract approval authority is not extended to the role initially; this may be introduced over time
