Job summary

City of Burlington, Vermont seeks a Trusted Community Voices team member fluent in Bosnian to strengthen dialogue between immigrant communities and city government. You will leverage connections to amplify voices and inform policies, while representing REIB and city departments in equitable engagement initiatives.

The role supports community meetings, outreach, and collaboration with residents, with an 8-hour weekly commitment and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Bosnian is required to serve the Bosnian community.
• Strong ability to connect with diverse communities and amplify voices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for outreach.

Responsibilities

• Attend trainings, planning meetings, and REIB team meetings.
• Build trusted relationships within historically underserved communities.
• Conduct culturally responsive outreach for city programs and meetings.
• Serve as a liaison between residents and City staff to share perspectives.
• Advise departments on engagement strategies and barriers to participation.
• Support community meetings, listening sessions, and events around Burlington.
• Connect residents with City departments and resources.
• Promote equitable participation in City programs and processes.
• Identify emerging community needs to strengthen trust.
• Provide confidential, professional engagement and feedback to leadership.
• Document outreach and assist evaluation of engagement efforts.
