Job summary

North Sky Communications, LLC is seeking a Directional Drill Locator to operate electronic locating devices and ensure the bore path follows design schematics while avoiding existing underground utilities.

You will read utility prints, plan safe underground routes, and communicate with the drill operator to direct movement and steering. The role requires lifting up to 50–55 lbs and outdoor work in various weather conditions, with CDL Class A considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience operating electronic locating equipment to track bore depth, pitch and path.
• Ability to read utility prints and site plans for bore path planning.
• CDL Class A is often preferred or required depending on truck weight classes.

Responsibilities

• Operate locating equipment to monitor depth, pitch, orientation and temperature of the drill head.
• Plan bore paths using utility prints and site plans to map safe underground routes.
• Maintain 2-way communication with drill operator to guide movement and steering.
• Record as-built bore path measurements upon completion of each drill shot.
