Job summary

Border/Zipper Sewer position in Conover, NC involves sewing borders and installing zippers for upholstery. You will read tickets, prepare fabrics, thread machines, and assemble border components to spec in a collaborative production setting.

Hours are Monday–Thursday 6:30am–4:00pm with some overtime; a high school diploma and strong communication skills are valued, with 3+ years of upholstery sewing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

BORDER/ZIPPER SEWER

BASIC FUNCTION

Being a Border/Zipper Sewer includes piecing borders together, running the appropriate welt in them and running zippers in backs, ottomans and pillows to spec. Monday - Thursday, 6:30am - 4:00pm (some overtime)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Standard operation procedures.
• Must be able to read ticket and job notes for directions and specifications before sewing.
• Pull borders to remove excess welt cord
• Thread/re-thread machinery
• Install rolls of zipper into machinery/attach zipper flies for zipping
• Exercises care and follow the proper safety procedures to prevent injuries to themselves and their co-workers. May perform other duties/special or non-routine assignments as needed.

Supervisory Relationships :

• Reports to Department Supervisor

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

High School graduate helpful

Good Communication Skills – oral and written.

3+ years’ experience in production upholstery fabric sewing in an upholstered furniture manufacturing environment preferred.
