Job summary

Customs and Border Protection seeks motivated Officers (CBPO) to uphold border security, enforce customs, immigration, and trade laws, and inspect at entry points across diverse duty locations.

GS-5/7/9 entry and mid-level roles may be qualified by education or general/public safety experience, with base pay ranging from $41,863 to $127,464 per year, potential overtime up to $45,000, and comprehensive federal benefits including health and retirement plans. Training at FLETC follows hire.

Qualifications

• GS-5: 3+ years general experience or a Bachelor's degree
• GS-7: 1 year specialized experience at next lower grade or equivalent
• GS-9: 1 year specialized experience plus education substitutions or combos

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Oversee the flow of legitimate trade and travel at entry points.
• Perform inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determine admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Prevent the illegal entry of individuals and contraband.
