Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) to enforce border, immigration and agriculture laws, and to inspect individuals and conveyances at designated locations.

The role offers federal benefits, good base pay, and clear career progression within the CBP officer series. Salary ranges from GS-5 to GS-9 with potential for higher grades, and a recruitment incentive program may provide substantial yearly bonuses for prioritized duty locations.

Qualifications

• 3 years general experience or 1 year at GS-4 level, or a full 4-year degree as substitution.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Graduate-level education or SAA can substitute for experience for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Ensuring flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determining admissibility of individuals entering the United States.
• Preventing illegal entry and smuggling of contraband.
