Job summary

Customs and Border Protection is hiring CBPOs to join a nationwide team protecting borders and enforcing customs, immigration and agriculture laws. New hires are eligible for an annual recruitment incentive of up to $15,000 for a multi-year service contract, with duty locations across the United States.

Starting salaries vary by grade (GS-5 to GS-7) and locality pay, with overtime opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package including health, leave, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• GS-5 requires 3 years of general work experience that shows ability to meet and deal with people and learn new tasks.
• Education substitution: a bachelor's degree or completion of a full four-year course from an accredited college or university.
• GS-7 requires one year of specialized work experience at the next lower grade level or graduate education, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Preventing illicit entry of people and prohibited goods and smuggling.
