Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks an experienced Border Patrol Agent (GL‑9/GS‑11) for full‑time positions with possible sign‑on and retention incentives. Duties include detecting and apprehending violators, surveillance, and patrolling borders to protect the nation.

Relocation may be required depending on duty location and operational needs. Applicants should have at least one year of specialized law enforcement experience and Spanish proficiency.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized law enforcement experience at GL‑9 or GS‑11 level.
• Spanish language proficiency required during training and duties.

Responsibilities

• Detect suspected violators of immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers by maintaining surveillance from covert positions.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform checks (farm, building, traffic, city, transportation) as part of patrols.
• Patrol borders and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and off‑road gear.
