Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks a Border Patrol Agent (Experienced) at GL‑9/GS‑11 level. The position offers full‑time, career opportunity with relocation and incentives, including recruitment and retention payments, to serve at priority duty locations across the U.S.

Base pay ranges from $65,545 to $124,717 annually, with locality pay and overtime. Applicants must meet strict citizenship and residency requirements and complete Academy training.

Qualifications

• GL‑9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as searching, apprehending, and evidence gathering.
• GS‑11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, with authority to enforce laws, lead investigations, and apprehend violators.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Maintain surveillance and apprehend aliens or smugglers near borders using various assets.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband; conduct patrols and checks.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as part of patrol duties.
• Patrol international boundaries and use diverse vehicles and equipment to accomplish the USBP mission.
