Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking experienced Border Patrol Agents (GL-9/GS-11) for full‑time, career roles. Prior law enforcement experience may qualify for higher grades. Relocation may be required and duty locations span the nation.

Base pay ranges from $65,545 to $124,717 per year, with locality pay and up to 25% overtime. Recruitment up to $20,000 and retention up to $40,000 incentives are offered, plus comprehensive benefits. Training at the Border Patrol Academy is required.

Qualifications

• GL‑9/GS‑11: Specialized law enforcement experience or equivalent,
• Ability to obtain necessary clearances and pass the BPA Entrance Exam.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violations of immigration and customs laws.
• Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets to uphold the USBP mission.
• Interpreting tracks, evidence, and surveillance data to identify illegal activity and contraband.
• Coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend violators.
