Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents (GL-5/GL-7) on a full-time basis. The role includes a rigorous academy, nationwide duty locations, and potential relocation. You will protect U.S. borders, enforce laws, and contribute to national security.

Incentives exist: up to $20,000 sign-on and up to $40,000 retention payments, with base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,912 per year plus federal benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four‑year course of study in any field from an accredited college or university.
• One year of general work experience that demonstrates decision making and composure in stressful situations.
• Ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation and records.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violations of immigration and customs laws, inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers by maintaining surveillance from various positions, including night operations.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband; perform checks and patrol duties as assigned.
