Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USBP) seeks an experienced Border Patrol Agent at GL‑9 / GS‑11 levels for full‑time career opportunities with immediate sign‑on incentives and retention incentives.

Duty locations may include prioritized sites across the Southwest Border, with base pay, locality pay, and substantial benefits. Agency says new agents may receive up to $60,000 in incentives, plus $40,000 retention, and relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level involving physical searches, detention surveillance, or law enforcement duties.
• Ability to apprehend violators and work with other law enforcement officials.
• Proficient use of firearms, investigation reports, and related court processes.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Maintain surveillance and use appropriate equipment to deter illegal activity.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform routine patrols and checks of facilities and borders.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal areas using available assets to accomplish USBP mission.
