Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking a Border Patrol Agent (re-employed annuitant) to protect America's borders as part of the USBP team. The role includes enforcing immigration laws, conducting inspections, and patrolling borders by land, sea, and air with opportunities across multiple sectors.

This position starts at a salary of $91,985 (GS-12, Step 1) up to $119,583 (GS-12, Step 10). Eligible retirees may receive a salary offset waiver and expedited pre-employment processing.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in law enforcement or other responsible work demonstrating the ability to make arrests and exercise sound judgment in firearm use.
• Ability to analyze information rapidly and make prompt law enforcement decisions in light of laws and procedures.
• Must meet all occupational requirements including language and background investigation standards.

Responsibilities

• Prevent illegal entry of aliens by land, water, or air and apprehend smugglers or aliens.
• Enforce immigration and nationality laws and inspect documents and possessions for citizenship.
• Maintain surveillance from covert positions and use infrared scopes during night operations.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, and city patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets.
