Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in the United States. The BPA role is a career in federal law enforcement with strong base pay, comprehensive benefits, and recruitment incentives.

Selected candidates may receive up to $20,000 recruitment incentive, with additional incentives up to $30,000 over three years. Training at CBP Academy is provided; positions vary by duty location.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and remain composed in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR
• A combination of general work experience and college education as documented by transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and field techniques.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
