Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry and mid-level career positions in the Federal Law Enforcement Officer family.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay calm under stress.
• Bachelors degree or completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience and college education can qualify for GL-5/GL-7 positions.

Responsibilities

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers using surveillance and night-operations tools.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets.
