Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in full-time, entry- and mid-level positions.

Agents perform border patrol and immigration enforcement duties, conduct document inspections, and pursue individuals suspected of violations while patrolling diverse locations in the United States. Salary ranges vary by grade (GL-5 to GS-11) with incentives up to $20,000 for recruitment and up to $30,000 retention.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree as an education substitution for the GL-5 level.
• For GL-7, one year of specialized experience or a degree with superior academic achievement; or a combination of both.
• For GL-9/GS-11, progressively responsible law enforcement experience with firearms, arrests, and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Detain and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations.
• Conduct surveillance and field checks at borders and coastal areas.
• Interpret tracks, evidence and statements to determine citizenship or violations.
• Engage in patrols across various environments to fulfill the USBP mission.
• Apply knowledge of law enforcement procedures in daily operations.
