Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in full-time, entry, and mid-level career tracks. BPAs serve in federal law enforcement and enjoy broad federal benefits, with incentives for recruitment and retention.

Salary ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 per year, with health and retirement benefits and a Thrift Savings Plan. Initial academy training is provided along with relocation and duty-location possibilities across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of immigration and nationality law and related classifications.
• Familiarity with use of force policy, firearms and related procedures.
• Understanding of criminal law and procedure and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Maintain surveillance and use night-vision scopes to deter illegal entry.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol borders and waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, or other assets.
